SOUTHWESTER CENTER FOR RESEARCH AND PhD studies
Southwestern Centre for Research and PhD Studies (hereafter Center) was established in 2010 by a group of academicians/researchers dedicated towards sustainable development of Nepal through quality education, academic/ applied research, training/ capacity building programs, conferences/ meetings, and partnership/ collaboration with global/regional research centers/networks.
The vision of the Centre is to promote quality academic and applied research for solving real-world problems and contributing towards sustainable development. The Center has the mission to inspire society and the world through discovering, applying and sharing knowledge by conducting policy and programmatic research, academic study, and building human capacity. The main objective of the Centre is to carry out academic/applied research and educational activities on the contemporary issues related to national development and advancement of society. The Centre aims to develop human resources for research, policy-making, and practice.
The major focal areas of the Centre are related to human capacity development through PhD study and customized training programs, knowledge generation through high quality research, and knowledge dissemination through conferences/ workshops/ meetings. In order to fulfill the vision, mission and objectives of the Centre, it has been working very hard. The centre had been working with four Universities Sikkim University and three Universities of Malaysia. In Malaysia, the center has done collaboration with top universities of Malaysia including Infrastructure University of Kuala Lumpur (IUKL); MOU and MOA has already been signed and more than 60 scholars are already enrolled. In the UK, the center has done collaboration with Liverpool John Moores Universities.
The Centre is continuously enrolling student to various Universities and conducting training programs and seminar at district and national level. The Centre is helping scholar to finish their PhD in time and now already 32 scholars are granted PhD from Universities of India. The Center is publishing issues of six monthly journals JAAR, in which, scholars are conducting and publishing original articles on contemporary issues related to national development and advancement of society.
By producing PhD scholar, conducting research and educational activities, conducting and publishing original articles, and doing collaboration with national and international organization, the Centre is establishing itself as research hub. The Centre is on its path to achieve its mission to inspire society and the world through discovering, applying and sharing knowledge by conducting policy and programmatic research, academic study and building human capacity.
